Books

Davy’s Discovery is a story about a little boy named Davy who struggles to learn how to read. His sister, Catherine, encourages him to not give up. The siblings work together to solve a riddle included in a recent letter from their grandmother.

This book was a special project to work on because it was a gift to my grandmother. My grandmother wrote this story and I gained valuable experiences working with her to create a book we both loved. I experimented with various styles, media, and characters, both animals and people, and we discussed the different directions I could take for the illustrations. I learned how to use her wishes and preferences as guides to aid my creativity.

I decided to work with a digital colored pencil brush to create a soft, handmade aesthetic for this book. I wanted the color palette to be rich and cheerful.
